25 April 2012 – World Malaria Day

25 April 2012 marked World Malaria Day. In Africa, malaria still remains one of the leading causes of child deaths: the World Health Organisation (WHO, 2011) report shows that malaria accounts for 18% of deaths among children under the age of 5 in sub-Saharan Africa; the global average is just 9%.
