More than 57 million children across the world, the majority of whom are girls, are not in school. Only approximately two thirds of children complete five years of schooling, the minimum required for basic literacy.
Where they are in school, millions of children are being taught by untrained and under resourced teachers, in cramped and ill-equipped classrooms.
