Action in the Community Environment (ACE), Kenya
ACE works to reduce the impact of HIV/AIDS on rural communities in western Kenya by training community groups in agriculture and diet, which immediately improves the health and well being of orphans and vulnerable children living i these areas. ACE has also set up child rights support networks to build the community’s ability to protect the health and rights of children, while child-to-child clubs in schools educate children about HIV and put them at the centre of finding solutions. ACE provides psychosocial and direct support by offering voluntary counseling and HIV/AIDS testing, basic medication, nutritional supplements, school uniforms and bursaries. In addition, the creation of income generating projects and community gardens helps to increase communities’ capacity to support children in the long term.
